Pattie Boyd, former wife of George Harrison, expressed frustration on a podcast that filmmakers of Sam Mendes' upcoming four-part Beatles biopics never contacted her despite casting actress Aimee Lou Wood to portray her. Boyd and fellow Beatles associate Chris O'Dell lamented their exclusion, suggesting the films will lack authentic perspectives from those who experienced the band's history.
That's the difference between a documentary and a biopic, isn't it... Sadly the media literacy out there is so low that people don't get it. The Big Short, as amazing as it was, was not a documentary...
Of course I partly blame Morgan Spurlock and Ben Mezrich for this. Marketing yourself as non fiction and then backpedalling when called out.... But it's been forever the case, all the way back to Plutarch (who at least offered "more reasonable explanations).
