Senator David Pocock criticized mining giant BHP for undercutting Australia's climate policy while receiving $379 million in diesel tax credits, paying only $8 million under the safeguard mechanism for excess emissions. Leaked documents revealed BHP has delayed renewable energy projects and postponed electrification of its fossil fuel-dependent truck and train fleets despite internal memos emphasizing decarbonization commitments.
The diesel tax break is rotten. Labor supporters must demand reform. As usual the Australian Greens were calling for its removal 30 years ago. They lead politics in Australia. Pacific Island nations must call this tax break out when Labor claims it is doing everything it can to reduce emissions. I really like the word decarbonisation. I don't hear it often enough.

Another great example of a major corporation making a huge profit and getting taxpayer funded welfare while paying little back
